Obituary of Arthur R Shadell

Arthur R. Shadell, 73, of Monroe Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ with his loving family at his side. Born on September 13, 1942 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Fred and Jane (Demarest) Shadell. Art was a Physical Education teacher and a Driver's Education teacher at Carteret High School for over 40 years before retiring ten years ago. He had been the head coach for cross country track, winter track and spring track. He was a member of N.J.E.A. and the New Jersey Coaches Association. Art was an avid golfer, playing whenever possible. He also was a starter for some of the local area golf courses. Surviving are his wife Diane Balka Shadell; a daughter Alexandria; a son, Arthur Jr. and his wife Sarah; a brother, David Shadell and his wife Barbara; a sister, Diane Boullosa and her husband John; six grandchildren, Lance, Bryce, Molly, Isabella, Colton and Bennett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Mary Balka; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many dear friends. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Fernwood Cemetery, Monroe Twp., NJ. Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Twp., NJ. As a request by Art, please do not send flowers.
