Herman J. Bethke, Jr., 89, of the Country View section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Born on November 6, 1920 in Rosedale, KS, he was the son of the late Herman and Bertha Hicklin Bethke. Mr. Bethke had lived in Branchburg, NJ, and North Carolina before moving to Country View Village 12 years ago. During WWII, Mr. Bethke had served in the 1267th Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Bethke was a marketing agent for American Hoechst Corporation, Somerville, NJ before retiring. Mr. Bethke was a former member of the Branchburg Rescue Squad. He was also an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Breckenridge Bethke; four daughters, Marilyn Bethke, Marsha Bethke, Donna Slovak and Barbara Jenkins; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
