Dear Mike and Family:
I send you my very deepest sympathy at this time of inconceivable loss and sadness.
They say the loss of a child is like no other loss⦠that you cannot compare it to any other loss. When a parent, spouse or friend passes you grieve and you are of course sad, but when your child dies, a part of you ceases to exist, gone just like that, gone no warning, just gone. And the life that you knew, the things you always felt, the things in your life that made sense, that you held on to, that makes up who you are - are gone!
All the words of understanding and compassion become white noise to the roar that is coming from your heart. And only you and your family who are all grieving in their own and very private ways have any idea what you are going through⦠People who love you and love your dear son will search for words to comfort and strengthen you and more than likely find none.
I am no better at this⦠but I know this to be true. You loved your son and he loved you and that is forever and ever. And he would not want you to be in pain, though he knew it was inevitable you would be.
The sound he would most want to hear would be the sounds of your laughter and the telling and re-telling of stories of his wisdom and follies. These sounds and times may not be for now, but they will come and when they do⦠he will be with you and you will feel a little piece of his magic again.
I pray that the magic and wonder of his life will once again be part of who you are.
With heartfelt condolences,
Wendie Blanchard
Words can't explain how truly sorry I am, it is really sad to see such a great person go to heaven. As I was reading the entries I couldn't help but cry. Though, I do not know you in person, I was a student of Mr Tresslar, and hearing such terrible news is hard to believe. Mr.Tresslar was such a great professor. He truly went out of his ways to help everyone and he always did it with such enjoyment. I am lucky to say I was a student of his and he will be truly miss by everyone that knew him. I know that no words can bring him back and though we all wish it could. Always keep in mind that Mr. Tresslar was and will continue to be one of the greatest teachers I had, and I am sure others would instantly agree with me.
I am truly sorry and you will all be in my prayers.
Brenda, Mike and family:
It is with heavy hearts that we sign this book. Our deepest sympathy and many prayers are with you as you cope with your loss. May you find strength and comfort in your many memories.
Dear Mike, Brenda and Family,
Words cannot express how truly sorry we are for your loss. Josh was a remarkable person who touched so many people's lives. Anyone who knew him, even for just a short time, should consider themselves extremely lucky. It's rare to find such a genuine and caring person in today's world and Josh was just that. Our heart goes out to you as we will be praying for you during this difficult time.
I just wanted to let you know that your son was a great role model for the kids at Newton High School.
Your son, was my son Alex's football coach and a great mentor for him. As a father I was glad to know there are still coach's/teachers that actaully care and make a differnce to our kids.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Scott Price
Matt, I have just learned of the passing of your brother. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I hope that the happy memories make you smile during this difficult time.
Brenda, my dear friend,
Your darling Josh has now begun a new journey. He is certainly blessed with a wonderful loving mother and just as you cared and watched over him, he will do that now for you from heaven and that he will always feel your love, a mother's love never ends. Please believe that he will be at peace and keep yourself open to the signs he will send to you. I wish I could be there to hold your hand & give you a hug, but my heart is with you, With love, Sharon
Dear Brenda and family,
There are no words to justify such a loss but, I know Josh was very blessed to have such a caring and compassionate mother and family. Keep the memories close to your heart and take comfort in knowing that the person you brought into world, brought much happiness and joy to those around him.

Although I cannot imagine the deep pain you and your family are suffering right now, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless all of you in this time of need.
I had Joshua as a math teacher my senior year of high school back in 2003-2004. He was a wonderful teacher/person who made someone who hates math enjoy it. He will definitely be a teacher I'll always remember. My brother, Joshua had him as well and really enjoyed his class too. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joshua's friends and family.
I can't express how saddened my family and the Newton wrestling community are due to Josh's passing. he was a tremendous teacher, coach, and friend. He will be remembered as someone who always put others first, willing to help anyone who was in need. Please note that Josh and your family have been and always will be in our prayes.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news. I will always remember Josh for his great sense of humor and the great times we shared at NHS. I will continue always to pray for Josh and his family.
Family and Friends of Josh,
It was definitely a pleasure and honor to have worked with Josh at NHS. He was truly a wonderful role model for the students who had the good fortune of being in his classroom or on one of his teams. He aspired to be more, and that was a great message to those young people. At church this morning we spoke about shining our light upon others. All I could think about was how Josh accomplished that in his life.
Brenda,Mike and Family
Josh was like a second son to us. It was a joy to watch him grow into such a fine young man. We will miss him , and keep him in our hearts forever. Linda & Bob

He is definitely going to be missed by all his former students.

Dear Mike; I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your son Josh. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time. Stay strong.
Mr. Tresslar was smart, patient, kind and just an all around great person. I was lucky enough to be in his classes for two years, and i got to know him while filming the wrestling matches. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help anybody. I was devastated to hear of his passing and he, along with his family, will be in my thoughts always. Rest in peace Mr. Tresslar, the world definitely needs more people like you.
Josh - It wasn't supposed to turn out this way. When your mom (at my suggestion!) gave you Danielle's phone number she thought she was giving you a new friend. Little did any of us know that you & Danielle would find the "love of your lives". Doug & I were so happy that Danielle had met someone of your character, your intelligence, your ambition (to go to law school), your kindness & as we were to learn, your courage & your strength. We know that because of you Danielle is a better person & as Scott said today in his eulogy - all of us are better people for having known you. Up until a short time ago your mom, you, Danielle & myself were planning your wedding. As you know, it was to be in June 2010 at the College of St. Elizabeth Chapel with the reception following at the Madison Hotel. "Amazed" by Lonestar was to be your wedding song. And what a wedding it would have been! But today we buried you. At times I think I will miss you most...every breakfast, lunch & dinner & the hours in between! Our home & our lives will not be the same without you. Thank you for being part of our family. I love you Josh & I miss you already, "Mom" W.
To the Tresslar Family, our deepest sympathy. The lives of our three children Jennifer,Rachel and Matthew were made better because of Mr Tresslar's example. Heavens light is shining brighter today.
Sincerely, The Fennell Family
