Obituary of Patricia A. Helfrich

Patricia Ann “Pat” Helfrich of Belvidere, N.J. passed away on 18 November, 2022 at St. Luke’s

University Hospital in Bethlehem, PA at the age of 76.

Memorial Service will be held at the MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere,

NJ on Wednesday, 30 November, 2022 at 11:00AM with Pastor Sandy of the Oxford Colonial Methodist

Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Northhampton Memorial Shrine 3051 Green Pond

Road, Easton, PA. Friends may call from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the funeral home.

Pat was born in Easton, Pa. to Edward J. Walters and Cecelia B. Walters (Marason) on June 22,

1946. After graduating from Phillipsburg High School in 1964, she served in the U.S. Navy from

1964 to 1966. After the Navy, she worked as a care giver at the Hunterdon State School in

Clinton, NJ before working at Hoffman LaRoche in Belvidere, NJ for 16 years. Pat eventually

opened her own cleaning business - Mother’s Little Helper - and retired in 2021. She was an

active member of the Oxford Colonial Methodist Church, including the vacation bible school, fundraisers,

Sunday school as well as being a council member. Pat loved the outdoors and enjoyed bike

rides, hikes and cross-country skiing or just a walk around town. Her many hobbies included

crocheting, tatting, sewing, cross-stitch and drawing. She especially enjoyed spending time with

family and friends playing board or card games.

Pat is survived by her mother Cecelia Walters; sister, Linda Walters; two sons, Larry

Purnell Jr. and his wife Cynthia and Thomas Purnell and his wife Beth; her grandchildren,

Tricia, Francis, Christopher and Eddi J. Purnell. She was preceded in death by her father Edward J.

Walters.
