A good 30 years have past since I last spoke with Mickey. I wasn’t a friend but long ago interacted with him on several occasions as I was a high school buddy of his son, Jimmy.
Despite the years, fond memories of Mickey remain. He was good natured. He expressed a genuine interest in me as a person. He always welcomed me into his home. At a time in my life when I was a young, impressionable man, Mickey was an important role model.
As I recollect, there was a bit of Mickey in Jimmy, back in the glory days. I’m hoping a bit of Mickey lives on in all who knew him.
