Obituary of Dorothy Rue Rowe

Dorothy Rue- Rowe, age 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Born on January 14, 1921 in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Lee Rue II and Mae Sellner Rue. Her family moved to Fairview Farm in Belvidere, NJ where she eventually met her husband of 72 years, Lester Jacob Rowe. Dorothy worked locally during World War II for the war effort. She also helped run the family trucking company that delivered and picked up milk from local dairy farmers. She was a past president of the Good Will Fire Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted member with the Knit Wits of North Warren where she knitted mittens and hats for newborns. Her family always loved the beautiful garments she knitted for them over the years as presents. Later in life, quilt making became a favorite hobby. She entered and won many knitting and quilting contests at the local farm fairs. Dorothy also had a love for birds and was an amazing baker. Dorothy was a devoted mother of four boys. She and Lester raised them on DePue Street in Belvidere, NJ. Dorothy and her husband were world travelers, visiting Australia, Thailand, China, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Europe. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Lester Lee Rowe. She is survived by three children; James (Tachaya) Rowe, Robert (Carol) Rowe, Ronald (Linda) Rowe; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Bill) Guthrie; two brothers, Leonard (Uschi) Rue and Tom Rue; many nieces, nephews and cousins Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2018 at MacFadden Funeral Home, 325 Hardwick Street, Belvidere, NJ.
