Obituary of Claire Woodworth

Claire Margery Payne Woodworth, 82, of the Brookfield section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, passed away on April 2, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA. Born on February 8, 1936 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Payne and Ida Fritz. Claire graduated in 1953 from Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre, PA; Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and received her Master's degree from Paterson College. She retired after 25 years of service from Maywood Public School as a school nurse and a social worker. Surviving are her husband of 61 happy years, Alan Hoover Woodworth; three children, Laura Woodworth and her husband Lance Larsen, Elaine Norcross and her husband John, Alan Payne Woodworth and his wife Leslie; four grandchildren, Sarah, David, Patricia Woodworth, and Desli Norcross; a sister, Ruth Matthews; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Claire was an active member at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Maywood, NJ and at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Washington, NJ where she served in many capacities. Her love of music always led her to sing in both church choirs and the Brookfield Chorus. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 214 Route 31 North, Washington, NJ. Interment will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.
