Arthur W. Carswell, Jr., 83, of Belvidere, NJ, a resident of the Care Center of Brakeley Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013 at St. Luke's Warren Campus, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born on March 21, 1930 in Basking Ridge, NJ, he was the son of the late Arthur W. and Anna May (Allen) Carswell. Arthur had lived in Independence Township, NJ before moving to Belvidere in 1985. Arthur had served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He had worked for New Jersey Power & Light Company for over 33 years before retiring. Arthur was a former Cubmaster of Pack 151 and an assistant scoutmaster of Troop 151, both of Hackettstown. Arthur was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington where he had served as a deacon. Surviving are his wife, Doris M. Newfang Carswell; a son, David A. Carswell and his wife Kim A.; two daughters, Linda A. Lotito and her husband Michael J., and Judith M. Stull and her husband John A.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Frances Liddy. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in his memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Washington, 40 East Church Street, Washington, NJ 07882 or a charity of one's choice.
