Obituary of Sue V Miller
Please share a memory of Sue to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sue V. Miller, 95, of Belvidere, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Care Center of Brakeley Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Born on April 11, 1921 in Lower Mount Bethel, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ida Simmons and Birdge Hess.
As a young girl, she was raised in a rural setting and came to appreciate necessities of life and her family. As a young woman, she met a young man from Belvidere and fell in love. Sue and Frederick Miller were married on Christmas Day, 1941, at the Belvidere Second Presbyterian Church Manse. Fred was in the U.S. Army at the time when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Soon thereafter, he deployed to Ft. Lewis, Washington where Sue joined her husband.
After Fred shipped to Europe, Sue moved back to Belvidere to raise her young son. After the end of World War II, the couple settled in their new home in Belvidere. She was a talented cook and made delicious meals for her husband and family. She had a beautiful flower bed which brightened her home and was admired by passersby. She was active in the community and the Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon and elder in the church.
In her final years, after surviving a house fire, she endured the pain of an infirmed body. But one enduring quality she displayed was a smile when loved ones visited and to the people who cared for her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, who recently passed in November 2015; her three brothers, Edgar, Frank, and Harry; and three sisters, Mary, Bessie, and Cora.
She will be missed by her son, Charles and his wife Lynn; grandchildren, Chris, Mark, Carolina, Lori, Kimberly and Gregory; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
