Obituary of Elizabeth J. Buckenmyer

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Buckenmyer, 82, of Mt. Lake, Liberty Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 24, 2011 with her family at her side. Born in Bloomfield, NJ on April 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Knapp Newport. Betty along with her late husband, Lewis Buckenmyer Jr., who died in 1995, had been the owner of the former Mt. Lake Casino. Betty was the former dispatcher for the Mt. Lake Fire Company. She was a charter member and past president of the Mt. Lake Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Maggio who died in 2002. Surviving are a son, Ronald Buckenmyer; a daughter, Jacqueline Lunden, both of Mt. Lake; two brothers, Robert Newport of Toms River, NJ and Thomas Newport of Lake Suzy, FL; six grandchildren, Tara McNeel, Renae Fox, Ronald Buckenmyer, Kenneth Lunden, Jr., Robert Lunden and Ashlee Lunden; two great-grandchildren, Ryan McNeel and Taylor Fox. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in her memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 Sparta Ave., Building B, Suite 2, Sparta, NJ 07871.
