Obituary of Edward J. Murphy

Edward J. Murphy, 78, of the Brookfield section of White Township, Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Rockaway, NJ, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at his home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Ed retired from NJ Bell Telephone Co., Dover, NJ after 37 years. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #9238, Rockaway, NJ, a member of American Legion Post 425, Tannersville, PA, and Korean War Veterans of Central Pennsylvania. In addition to serving his country in the Army during the Korean War, Ed served his community. He was one of three 25 year Life Members of the White Meadow Lake Fire & Rescue Company #5, Rockaway Township Fire Department and a member of the NJ State Exempt Fire Association. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary P. Ryle Murphy; seven children, Leslie Long and her husband Tom, Edward Jr. and his wife Kelly, Colleen Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Timothy Murphy, Sean Murphy and his wife Catherine, Erin Greenen and her husband Jim; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Danielle and Shannon Long, Megan and Michael Murphy, Matthew and Ryan Greenen, Caitlin Murphy and EJ Murphy III. In lieu of flowers, contributions are to be made in his memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.
