John F. Deegan, 84, of Washington, NJ formerly of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Care One Center, Morristown, NJ. Born on October 31, 1923 in Glen Ridge, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Sophie Kern Deegan. Mr. Deegan had worked in the Vitamin C department of Hoffmann-LaRoche, Belvidere, NJ before retiring. Previously he had worked for P. Balentine & Son Brewery, Newark, NJ for over 27 years. Mr. Deegan served in the Army during WWII in Company H 9th Infantry Regiment as a rifle marksman. Mr. Deegan was a member of the Belvidere United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the West Essex First Aid Squad. He had a love for dogs and long walks. His loving wife of 55 years, Gladys M. Green Deegan had died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Jezewski of Roseland, NJ and Martha Shade of Washington, NJ; five grandchildren, Christopher, Brianon, Alexa, Kyle and Kelsey; a nephew, Raymond Fischer; and a niece, Donna Steele.
