Obituary of Thomas A. Matthews

Thomas A. (George) Matthews, 83, of the Lommasons Glen section of White Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 17, 2007. George had been a dairy farmer most of his life and lastly worked in construction. Born October 6, 1924 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Daisy S. Thomas Matthews. George had moved to the family farm in 1926 and had lived there since. While growing up, he had attended the one-room schoolhouse on Lommason Glen Road. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making knives and repairing and restoring tractors. Surviving are his devoted wife of 60 years, Lorraine nee Martin Matthews; a brother, Ivan Matthews; two sisters, Mary Light and Marie Weaver; many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Thomas E. Matthews and Wilbert C. Matthews and two sisters, Elizabeth Schineler and Theresa Haycock had died earlier.
