Irvin Berger, 88, of Columbia, NJ, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, January 4, 2007. Born on October 30, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Cecilia Gechtman Berger. Mr. Berger had farmed before working for Lotz Brothers Dairy for over 35 years and lastly had worked for Hoffman-LaRoche before retiring. Mr. Berger was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belvidere, NJ. He had been a volunteer fireman in Hope, NJ. Mr. Berger was predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Eleanor Read; two sons, Joel and Dale; a brother, Bernard; a companion of 20 years Elizabeth Pascoe. Surviving are his second wife of five years, Thelma Quincy Taylor; three sons, Larry, Davis and Neil; a brother, Herman; seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the First Baptist Church of Belvidere.
