Clarence “Walt” Walter Howell, 79, a life long resident of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 28, 2006. Born in Belvidere, NJ on December 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Vandy and Clara Smith Howell. Walt was a carpenter/construction worker lastly working for the State of New Jersey before retiring. He had served in the Army during WWII. He and his wife, the former Betty J. Gardner, were married for 58 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Donna Steckel and her husband John; a son, Michael and his wife Shari; a brother, Earl; three sisters, Nine Lozier, Elva Yonocsko, and Betty Mackas; four grandchildren, Danelle Allen, Denise McEwen, Eric and Nicole Howell; three great-grandchildren, Jared and Jordan Allen, and Brayden McEwen. Three brothers, George, Richard and William, and two sisters, Gladys Howell and Mary Apgar had died earlier.
