Obituary of Doris Ann Wiedman

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On February 20, 2024. Our Beloved Doris Anne Trimmer Wiedman peacefully departed this world at the age of 82 after her valiant battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia.  Doris was more than a biological mother; she embodied a nurturing spirit that extended far beyond her own family. Her unwavering care and kindness touched the lives of many, earning her title of a surrogate mother to countless souls.

Doris is survived by her five children: Valerie (Wayne) Woolf of Bloomsbury, NJ, George Scott (Jill) Wiedman of Mt. Bethel, PA, Douglas Wiedman of Washington, NJ, Bradley (Heather) Wiedman of Long Valley, NJ; Heidi (Kevin) Snyder of Carmel, IN; nine grandchildren, Brandon Woolf, Danielle Woolf, Amanda Wiedman, Cara Wiedman, Ian Snyder, Paul Vanderbilt, Christopher Vanderbilt, Amber Mayberry, Kayla Anthony; six great-grandchildren, Cayden, May, Nora, Wyatt, Scarlet, and Isaiah.  She was predeceased by her husband George; three sisters, Betty, June and Florence; a brother, John.

Born to John and Sadie Benner Trimmer on June 16, 1941 in Fairmount, NJ. Doris grew up in a farming family. Her youth was filled with tending to the daily tasks of running a family farm. After attending Frenchtown High School, she graduated in 1959. Following her education, Doris worked as a secretary at the Journal of Commerce before embracing her role as a devoted wife and mother.

Doris was a hard worker and did whatever was needed to support her family; she not only raised her five children but took on the extra tasks of raising Black Angus cattle, farming, and when needed, took over running the family business, George’s Tavern, Belvidere, NJ for a time.

Doris’s love story with her husband of 54 years, George Wiedman Jr., began on June 5, 1965.  Together, they raised their family in Lebanon Township, NJ, creating cherished memories with neighbors who became like family.  In 2003, they retired to the serene beauty of Mt. Bethel, PA.

Doris and George shared a passion for antiques, particularly items related to dairy and barbershop. Their weekends were spent at auctions, seeking out those rare finds.  You couldn’t mention Doris without thinking of George; they were inseparable. Their love extended beyond their own bond as the welcomed friends into their lives with open hearts. Strangers became friends, and friends became family. Doris was also known for hosting parties, cooking, baking, and creating the best apple pie!

Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering care. May her memory continue to inspire us all.
