Obituary of Dorothy I Willis

Dorothy I. Willis, 95, of Bridgewater Twp., NJ, formerly of White Township, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Bridgeway Care Center, Bridgewater, NJ. Born on April 23, 1918 in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Claire G. Davis and Lyla Riley. Dot had been a supervisor for New York Telephone Company for over 33 years before retiring. Mrs. Willis was an active member of the Belvidere United Methodist Church where she served on the Church and Society Committee, Pastor Parish Committee, and taught the Adult Bible Class. Dot was also active with the United Methodist Women, served as a Past President, the Commission of Status and Role of Women Committee, and was named Layperson of the Year by the Northern New Jersey Conference. She was a member of the Warren County Women's Commission. Dot served as treasurer for the Warren County Jail Chaplaincy. She was a member of the former Belvidere Soroptimist Club. She was a volunteer for Warren County D.A.R.C.C., and had been named Warren County Person of the Year. Dot was predeceased by her husband, Everett M. Willis, who died on September 22, 1988. Surviving are her children, Donald Willis and his wife Jeanne Brownell, Richard Willis and his wife Margaret Pierce, and Marilyn Walkiewicz and her husband Edward; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
